HOUSTON – HBU head softball coach Mary-Ellen Hall has announced her 2010 schedule, which features 18 games at Husky Field, three tournaments and hosting the inaugural Great West Conference championship.

“It’s a challenging schedule which we think will prepare us for conference play,” said Hall.

The Huskies begin the season at the Centenary Tournament from Feb. 12-14, a five-game tournament against Southern, Nicholls State, Memphis, Wichita State and the host Ladies.

After the stop in Shreveport, the Huskies host McNeese State in a doubleheader home opener on Feb. 17.

HBU ends February at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Tournament which runs from the 25th to the 27th. The Huskies will play a single game against the Islanders and two games versus Louisiana-Monroe and Great West Conference foe North Dakota.

After a doubleheader at Texas Tech on March 3, the Huskies host UH-Victoria and Monmouth on the 6th and 8th, respectively. They will participate in the Coastal Carolina Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C., from March 19-21, competing against Sacred Heart, Oakland, Buffalo and the host Chanticleers.

HBU will begin conference play hosting doubleheaders against Utah Valley, North Dakota and South Dakota from March 26-28 in Farmer’s Branch.

After four consecutive road games to start April without leaving the Lone Star State (Texas Southern, Sam Houston State, UH-Victoria and UT-San Antonio), the Huskies have three straight home games versus Texas Wesleyan (18th), UT-San Antonio (21st) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (24th) before ending the regular season with a doubleheader at McNeese State on the 28th.

“We’re excited to be playing in Farmer’s Branch this year as it has almost become a home away from home for us,” said Hall.

The Huskies will host the inaugural Great West Conference Tournament from May 16-17 in Farmer’s Branch.
